Whatever Wednesday: Name a Theme Week Contest!

That's right, gang! The burden of coming up with a subject for a week's theme now rests firmly on your shoulders.
Forget about the daily themes we've had going here lately, this is YOUR chance to have me draw something especially catered to your taste for five days in a row.
The fun doesn't end there though! The person who suggests the best theme will win one of the drawings done for their theme. Please submit your theme week entry in the comments to this post. You may suggest as many themes as you wish. Cut off for submitting a theme is next Wednesday, January 7th! Winner will be chosen by Laura and myself. I reserve the right to use your theme for a future week, even if you don't win this contest! ;)

i would love to see a week of nothing but zombie themes...maybe "dead week".think of all the great stuff you could choose from "Night of the living dead","evil dead","walking dead" etc.maybe you could do a zombified self-portrait,that might be fun...
the week could go something like this...Marvel Zombie Monday, tounge hanging tuesday(some zombie missing his lower jaw),withered wednesday, blood thursting thursday, and frightful friday...

  2. Mix and Match or Twisted Team-Ups. For the mix and match I was thinking something like the amalgamated line. Except with whatever characters.

For Twisted Team-Up it could be any two characters who are unrelated to each other meeting, or who would make a unique pair. For example, Katchoo and She-Hulk. Or Howard the Duck with Harvey Pekar.

  4. I immediately thought of Western Week (Jonah Hex, Two-Gun Kid, Apache Cheif, Rawhide Kid, Kid Colt), though maybe a Gunslinger Week would allow for more variety since you could use war heroes and/or police characters as well.

  5. I would love a week devoted to nothing but Queen & Country. But for more variety you could always do a Secret Agents week, which would not only include Q&C but Checkmate, Nick Fury, James Bond, and all that fun stuff. And Paul Crocker is the best secret agent EVER!

  6. As an unabashed Daredevil fan, I'd love to see a theme week, featuring superheroes/vigilantes whom tend to operate predominately night (Daredevil, Batman, Moon Knight, etc.) . This theme could feature any of your favorite nocturnal heroes that you enjoy drawing and could be entitled "In-Samnee-acs."

  10. Hmmm, Wings Week may be another one to consider. This would include any winged characters or characters known to associate or symbolized by creatures with wings (Batman, Hawkman, The Falcon, the Angel, Valkyrie, heck even WonderWoman and her plane could be represented). I'm still partial to seeing you do Hex, but this concept has many possibilities as well.

  17. Hi, Chris! Here are some possibilities for the contest:

    - I really love "Supreme" world. All those old concepts re-build by Moore until a new, fresh dimension. Supreme, Suprema, Radar, Diana Dane or Judy Jordan. And there could be here different pictures in the all different styles through the ages (the 30s-Supreme, the 50s-one, the modern characters, etc, just like Moore represented them).
    - Pulp characters: Doc Savage or his modern representation, Tom Strong.
    - Apes: Don´t tell me you don´t love comics with apes. Everybody lovs apes! Gorilla City, Detective Chimp, Angel & the Ape. Anyone of those could be great!
    - Different representations through ages of the same character: Shuster´s Superman, Boring´s Superman or Swan´s. The 40s-WW, the white-dressed one, etc. And this could appear with a lot of them: Batman, FF, LSH, etc, etc.
    - Classic literature character: Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, Sandokan.
    - And the strangest question you will receive: ABBA. The best group of all times, with a really wonderful image!!!

    AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  20. You know you want to do Futurama Week. And a Princess Bride Week. And a Steve Buscemi Week--this could include characters/scenes from all the movies in which Buscemi has appeared. Also, you really want to do a "Dictators of the 20th Century Week." You've got a real talent for drawing dudes in uniform, and dictators love to pose in pictures where they wear their uniforms.

How about Warrior Wednesday or Wednesday's Warriors! Or even Barbaric Wednesday as you still have the other 1/2 of the week to go! I'm a Conan/ Red Sonja fan and so I like the Barbarian/ Warrior art. Would love to see more of this! Besides, Who does'nt like seeing that shiny little metal bikini of Red Sonja's to get you thru the rest of the week and for the woman, how about those muscle bound barbarians using only there strength and the keen edge of there swords to win the day! Yep, thats my final answer! Ken Zenuk

  31. This is a cool idea, Chris.

One of the hottest books out there and one I'm personally enjoying is Christ Yost and Craig Kyle's X-FORCE, with rotating art by Clayton Craine and Mike Choi. AMAZING STUFF!

So I'd like to see your take on the current X-Force team characters: Wolverine, X-23(my favorite), Wolfsbane, Warpath, and Archangle, Elixir and Domino.

    OR

How about a LETS MAKE LOVE NOT WAR week featuring some of the sexiest and hottest couples/flings/friends with benefits in comics! Some of my favorites are Batman/Catwoman, Catman/Huntress, Black Panther/Storm, Cyclops/Jean Grey, Mister Terrific/Sasha Bordeaux and Hawkeye/Mockingbird

Maybe this idea is best for Valentines!

  36. Chris,

You don't draw enough female characters, so how about a BIRDS OF PREY week featuring Oracle, Huntress, Lady Blackhawk, Manhunter, and Misfit. I would have said Black Canary but I've seen you draw her a few times.

    OR

Staying with the Female theme in general, I'd love to see you draw some of the most kick ass females in comics!

    AND

Alex would like to throw in his idea of having a Star Wars Clone theme week! LOL!!

Hope you're having a good day!!!
