Books I'd Kill to Draw: Batman & Robin

This is the last week of Books I'd Kill to draw. Don't worry though, there are plenty more posts in the works of books that would bring me to murder. Keep an eye out;)

Anyway, I've made no secret of my love for the Bat titles, so it's pretty obvious that today's post would be Bat related.

This sketch is actually an homage of (I believe) an old Bob Kane drawing of the Dynamic Duo.

Ummm...

I just realized I'm fresh out of new material to stick up here on the ol' blog. I've got several theme weeks rattling around in my noodle, and maybe a few things in my sketch books that still need to be scanned in, but for now just go watch this trailer for the Batman Brave and the Bold that Mike Manley posted up on his blog. Gorilla Grodd, Gentleman Ghost, Golden-Age Green Arrow and bunches of other stuff I'm sure starts with "G" like GREAT NEW CARTOON!

Heroes: Big Boss and Mister Terrific

The sketch up top is of "Big Boss" (from a video game I'm ashamed to say I've forgotten the title of again) and below is Mister Terrific whose power (aside from the only one that I was aware of, which is his T mask that makes him invisible to cameras or computers or something...) is that "he's better than you.":)

Heroes: Supes & Bats and Morbius & Spidey

Hm. I did quite a few more upside down characters than I remembered. Maybe I should start a trading card set:)

Here's a few more pre show sketches. Is it wrong that my favorite thing from these two sketches is the bag of money with the dollar sign on it?

Oh, and the volme of Queen & Country: The Definitive Edition, Vol. 3 with has my 4 issue arc, alongside Steve Rolston and Mike Norton's issues, hits stands today.

Speaking of Summer comic movies...

Batman & Daredevil: pencils & inks

Since some of you decided to sneak a peek at the finished piece already (you know who you are;)I figured I'd go ahead and post both the pencils and inks for this commission.

This one turned out almost exactly how I pictured it in my head, which is actually a pretty rare treat for me.

Oddly enough though, my favorite bit is the acid rain pitting and little cracks on the gargoyles that were added in during the ink stage. It's little things like that which make inking over loose pencils the most fun. If this were all neatly rendered I may not have ended up with those types of little happy accidents.
