SUPERIOR IRON MAN

Superior Iron Man here is one of my favorites of the All New redesigns. It manages to mesh the best bits of the Iron Man of the movies and stay true to the roots of the original designs. (I could stand a little gold and red though ;P)

Huge props to my buddy Yildiray Cinar on the design of this suit-- and congrats on the Iron Man gig. This, along with writer Tom Taylor, will be his first work at Marvel. Best of luck, brother!!

Rescue!

It has been a long time since I did some blog sketching - too long, in fact! So here is my attempt to start the New Year off right. Rescue was a suggestion from Twitter, who I've never sketched before. Still trying to shake the dust off from my week off and my month off from blog sketching.

Iron Man

Been reading Essential Iron Man Vol. 1 and wanted to take a crack at his old costume. Don Heck is a friggin' genius - this is such an awesome costume!

Edit: I've been schooled by comics legend Phil Hester that this costume was in fact designed by Steve Ditko. Still, Don Heck is a genius and this is an awesome costume! :)

IRON MAN

Found myself wanting to sketch Iron Man the other day... but after digging through page after page of reference lately, in an attempt to keep the Iron Patriot's armor on model, I decided to play this doodle of ol' Tony Stark fast and loose. Keeping him in his old suit meant the only reference I needed was what I had rattling around in my ol' noggin'.

I was shooting for George Tuska with this one... but it ended up turning out more along the lines of something Eric Canete might do. Not to compare myself with either of these guys, mind you.

Some days you just gotta go where the art takes ya though.

Also, The Mighty #11 hits stands today!! Here's a link to a 5 page preview over at CBR to whet your appetite until you can make it out to your LCS :)

Technicolor Thursday: Iron-man & Cap

Hope you had a great B-Day, Nathan and Joel!!

Oh, and I think today is some sort of holiday... Happy holidays to all you lovely blog readin' folks and to all a good night!!

Baddies

Here a few sketches I just recently got scans of. Here we have Ming the Merciless of Flash Gordon fame and the Iron Man villain Ghost.
