SIF

I realize that this sketch is a tad bloodier than our usual fare around here... but if you had heard the off-color remarks that the, now headless, fella with the particularly dry elbows had been making to our gal Sif, you'd realize that it's absolutely warranted.

If you haven't done so already, be sure to get your order in for Kelly Sue DeConnick and Ryan Stegman's SIF one-shot due out in stores on March 24th. It's sure to be one helluva ride. I for one am waiting with bated breath to get my ink stained mitts on a copy.

Oh, and here's an interview Kelly Sue did with the fine folks over at Newsarama about said issue :)

RED TORNADO

This one looks a bit strange... maybe it works for the character though.
Here's hoping you all have a happy Day-before-Friday.

DARKSEID!

Just another quickie for you all. This go 'round we have a rather Easter Island-ish Darkseid!!
Okay, back to the old drawin' board for me.

CONAN

With my current busy schedule this looks to be another one of those weeks where blog posts will mostly just be quick head sketches and busts, like the Conan you see above.

Hope you all had a swell Valentime's :D

DEADPOOL

Yyyyeeeaaahh, okay. This sketch may only be funny to me since I like to read Deadpool's dialogue in a Joe Dirt voice.
Also, not quite sure what it says about me that I've drawn this same basic bomb design twice in just the past couple weeks.
Oh, and I also just wanted to draw Mjolnir :D
Is that enough random weirdness for one post? Yeah? Okay then.
Have a great weekend, kids.

MARY MARVEL

When my wife Laura suggested I draw Mary Marvel I was tempted to take my best shot at Mike Norton's interpretation of li'l Mary in Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam but decided to hold off... at least until I get a chance to read the book :)

For this sketch I took inspiration mostly from my new DC Universe Classic Mary Marvel toy (It's just friggin' adorable) and a good dose of Bob Oksner... although I could never hope to live up to anything he ever produced.

Oh, and I tossed in the big rat because I was always disappointed that a few of 'em appear on the cover of Shazam #21 but no rats actually show up in the issue.

Okay, so if you ever wondered how nerdy I am, I'm think this post has given you all a pretty good hint :/

On sale 2-10-10

Also, since I forgot to mention it yesterday, out on shelves this week is Marvel Adventures Super Heroes #20! This was my first, and definitely not my last, bit of cover work for the fine folks at Marvel.
In case you missed it a while back, here's my process on this cover :)

COLOSSUS

Okay, before anyone asks, I'm going to be honest with you folks. I'm more than a little sleep deprived and I have no idea what's going on in this sketch.
I had intended to draw Colossus in the Danger Room... but about halfway through my brain shut off and we ended up with this.
If you dig it I suppose you can thank Righty* for this one.

*"Righty" is my hand's name. Although it generally answers to most swear words.

TORPEDO sketches and pencils

These sketches were originally done in an attempt to figure out what the cover of my next sketchbook would be. None of these made it through to the end but the bridge scene had such a Torpedo-ish vibe I couldn't help but use it for my Torpedo sketch that can be seen over on the ComicTwart blog.
Besides, it's good to recycle, right?

And here are the pencils for the sketch. Really loose so I can still have fun and draw the rest in ink.

Emerald City Comic Con Pre-Orders

I'll be attending Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, WA on March 13th & 14th, 2010 and am now accepting a LIMITED NUMBER of pre-orders for con sketches.
My con sketch prices for
ECCC are:
$75 for a single character in B&W on 9 x 12 bristol
$100 for two characters (on 1 page) in B&W on 9 x 12 bristol

All sketches will be personalized, no exceptions. I will be sketching at the show, this list is for sketches that I can get done before the show. (DO NOT email me if you want a sketch in your sketchbook. THIS LIST IS NOT FOR SKETCHBOOKS. If you want a sketch in a sketchbook, please come see me as soon as possible at the show.)

If you know you will be attending Emerald City and would like a sketch please drop me a line at samneeart at gmail dot com with your sketch request. Please use "ECCC SKETCH" as the subject for the email.

Pre-orders will be taken on a first come, first served basis until I reach my limit.

I will only be taking on about 6-8 sketches each day at the show so I can make each one as good as possible. Hopefully getting on this list will ensure that anyone who'd like a sketch can get one, and this way there's less wait for all you nice folks.

MEDUSA VS SPIDEY

Do you remember how awesome it was when Spidey fought Medusa back in Amazing Spider-Man #62?
No? Oh, I guess I thought you were older :D
