Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom #1 out Wednesday!

Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom #1, written by Mark Waid, art by myself and beautiful colors by Jordie Bellaire, is out this Wednesday, 8/22!!  CBR has a preview up so go take a look!  We all put a lot of heart into this series, so I hope you pick it up!

Also, apologies for the sporadic posting this year.  Drawing two books is leaving me with very little time to do much else.  I hope to be back to sketching and posting this fall, once I'm down to just working on Daredevil!  Thanks to those of you that still keep checking in on me.  I hope to make it up to you soon!

My Big News of the DDay!

As was mentioned in the "Next Big Thing" interview yesterday for Marvel.com, the talented Paolo Rivera is leaving Daredevil and instead of finding a replacement for him, I will be the sole, full-time artist on Daredevil!!!

Paolo gave his reasons for leaving the book in a really nice post on his blog and I wish him all the best on his post DD work.

I hope those of you that came to the book because of Marco's and Paolo's beautiful artwork stick around to see what Mark and I have cooking for you.  I'm having a blast on this book, and I hope it's showing in my pages.

You can read the see the full interview here at Marvel.com's liveblog (or a number of other places like Newsarama, CBR, IGN, MTVNews etc.)
Ifanboy seems to have all the info, as well as a preview of B&W pages from DD#15.

OKAY!! Back to the drawing board with me. This horn head ain't gonna draw himself : )

Oh, and yes I'm still drawing the Rocketeer mini... and packing up the house for another cross-country move. This time with a 10 month old. Yes, I'm apparently a glutton for punishment.

Stumptown Cancellation

Unfortunately, I've had to cancel my appearance at Stumptown this weekend.  Very sorry to cancel, but it came down to going to the show or getting work in on deadline.  I've got a lot of work on my plate right now and I'm trying very hard to get everything in on time, so something had to give.  Thanks for your understanding.  No more shows planned for me for 2012, hope to see you somewhere next year!

Eisner news & Stumptown!

So sorry for the lack of updates lately, it turns out drawing two books a month will keep you pretty busy! ;)

Just wanted to share the news that the Eisner Nominations were announced last week and I have been nominated for Best Penciller/Inker!!! It is a true honor to be nominated!

And in other news, I will be a special guest at the Stumptown Comics Fest, here in Portland, OR on April 28 & 29! You can find me at Table B-9. If you are interested in getting a sketch, I will be doing a few each day. Prices will be $175 for one character, B&W on 9x12 Bristol and $250 for two characters, B&W on 9x12 Bristol. List starts fresh each morning, so come see me early if you want something!

If you're at the show and you'd like to listen to me ramble, I'll also have a spotlight panel at Stumptown on Saturday (the 28th) from 4 to 4:45 pm. Hope to see you there!!

ECCC C-ya next time I hope

Unfortunately, due to illness, I've had to cancel my appearance at Emerald City Comicon this weekend. Besides feeling like crud I didn't want to be shunned by con-goers as the disease-riddled Outbreak monkey of ECCC 2012. :/If you're going to the show though be sure to swing by the Boom! Studios booth to snag a copy of Adventure Time #1 featuring my con exclusive variant cover (with mathematical colors by the one and only Matt Wilson)! It's better than seeing me in person and having me cough on you. :)

WOO HOO! ROCKETEER!!!

The first bit of news out of the IDW panel at WonderCon this weekend is that Mark Waid and I will be doing a 4 issue miniseries of THE ROCKETEER!!!!

It's been tough keeping my big mouth shut about it so I'm really glad we can finally spill the beans. Here's an article over on Newsarama (who have the exclusive first look at some of my art for the series) where Mark and I spill some of those aforementioned beans :)

Ultimate Spidey swan song!

Here's a preview (with hella awesome colors by Justin Ponsor) of my last issue of Ultimate Comics: Spider_Man #7
on stands February 22!!

I initially announced that I'd be on for an arc but, due to some scheduling issues, this will be my final issue on the series.

Can't wait to share with you all what I have coming up. Well, besides covers on Wolverine and my Angel & Faith one-shot :)

Angel & Faith #10 (out in May!)

I guess since yesterday was such a slow news day, Dark Horse decided to let it slip that I'll be doing an issue of Angel & Faith (#10 to be exact) that'll be out in May. I've had a couple cracks at the Serenity/Firefly universe over the past couple years but this'll be my first time working in the "Buffyverse" and it's been a dream come true. AND I get to reunite with my pal, and collaborator on Area Ten, Christos N. Gage to boot!!! Man oh man. What a lucky jerk I am : )

Above are a couple sketches of the title characters :D Hope you all pick it up. Chris has written a really, really fun script and I'm having a blast drawing it.

COMMISSIONS!!!!

UPDATE: All commission spots sold within a few minutes! Thanks everyone!

ETA: LINK TO STORE IS HERE!

I've decided to open up for a small number of con style sketch commissions. It has been 3 years since I've done commissions, and this will likely be it for quite some time. Commission spots will be available to purchase through my store, starting this Friday, the 20th, at 12pm (Pacific). Please read all of the following information before purchasing a commission.

  • All sketches will be inked (black & white) on 9x12 bristol board
  • One character with some background will be $175.00
  • Two characters with some background will be $250.00
  • All sketches will be mailed in plastic, between two pieces of cardboard and in a stay flat mailer, through USPS with delivery confirmation. Shipping cost will be $10.
  • Shipping will be within the US ONLY!
  • No requests for lewd/graphic/overly violent content will be honored.
  • Established characters only (in other words, I won't draw the character you made up in seventh grade)
  • Finished art is intended for your enjoyment only, not publication.
  • Please indicate what character(s) you would like, and if necessary, which version of their costume when you pay through Paypal. Payment through Paypal only.
  • I will follow up with you through email to confirm your request and give you an approximate time table for shipping your sketch.
  • Turnaround time should be quick, but hopefully no longer than 6 to 8 weeks.
  • When all commission slots are filled, the store listing will display "sold out".
  • Lastly, I reserve the right to refuse a sketch request for any reason, so pick something good! ;)
Purchasing a commission spot through my store indicates that you have read the above information and agree with it.

Thanks so much!

HELLBOY

Somebody left a comment the other day on my Batwoman post to say that I should put some red on that sketch.
So here's some "Red" on this sketch instead :P

BATWOMAN

Just saw that Dark Knight Rises poster again, the one with the bat shape made in the open space around all the buildings. It's a friggin' genius idea that I can't believe nobody's done sooner.
So yeah, I figured I'd do a sketch where somebody's cape makes a bat symbol shape-- and it's been a while since I've drawn Batwoman so...

Yeah, my drawings are super deep. :P

Daredevil (aka the first sketch of the year)

Well, the title here is maybe not 100% true. I actually started this sketch waaaaayy back in August, the week that my daughter was born, and only just got the chance to finish it last night.

Have a nice monday, everybody. And Happy New Year!!!!

Here's hoping that writing that li'l '12' down there in the corner gets easier with practice. :P
