Technicolor Thursday: She-Hulk

I tried to color this in Photoshop earlier in the week but it was such a disaster I dare not put it out there for all the internets to see. Instead you get this little number done in Prismacolors and a white colored pencil.

Technicolor Thursday: Firebreather

I'm knee deep in work right now but I did manage to squeeze in this pinup between pages the other night.
This guy'll be showing up in the trade paperback collection of Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn's excellent Firebreather.
Inks AND colors, baby!  Well, a couple colors anyway.

Also, be sure to check out Andy's (now frequently updated) blog for an overdose of awesomeness.

Technicolor Thursday: Smallville

This was actually the last sketch I did in 2008. Done late on New Year's Eve while catching up on season 7 of Smallville and waiting for midnight to roll around.

Technicolor Thursday: DD sketches

These are from back when I was preparing for the Daredevil: Blood of the Tarantula issue I did with Ande. You can tell I was still trying to find my version of ol' Horn-Head here but these were getting pretty close.

Technicolor Thursday: Top Secret!!

This is just a bit of thinking on paper for a book Laura and I have been brainstorming. I was trying out a more European, muted color palette here.
I'd love to tell you more but I don't want to spoil anything.

Technicolor Thursday: Spawn

I can't remember the last time I read a Spawn comic, but for some reason the other night I just had an itch to take a crack at drawing him. It came out kind of neat I think. It was done almost entirely with at #4 Raphael brush before I broke out the markers.

Oh, and Happy Turkey Day!! Nothing says Thanksgiving like a Hellspawn, right?

Technicolor Thursday: Wonder Woman, redux

Here's the Wonder Woman sketch from last week, now with a bit of my my pitiful Photoshop skills applied.

Technicolor Thursday: Wonder Woman

I've started trying to utilize Photoshop a bit more... unsuccessfully most of the time. Every once in a while though, something accidentally turns out alright.
That seems to be the case here with this Wonder Woman sketch
I'm not really sure which step I ended up favoring the most, so I figured I'd just post inks, markers and the color tweak all together.

Oh no!  I already broke my Halloween theme streak!  Well... some folks dress up as Wonder Woman, right?  Are we still good?

Technicolor Thursday: Hulk!

Since I broke out the markers, and lost track of time with this one, it actually took me 10 minutes.

This was done a little differently than a lot of my colored stuff. I actually put down a layer of light green first, layered on two darker green markers to give shape and add shadows to ol' Jade Jaws's mug. I finished it off by adding black marker and brush pen on top of the colors.

Technicolor Thursday: Nightwing

This sketch was inspired by the new set of DC Superheroes Laura bought for me a couple weeks back. These are a really cool toys to have decorating my "office".  Office is in quotes since it looks more like a nerdy 10 year old's bedroom rather than a work space, it just happens to have a drawing desk in the place of a race car bed.  We got the entire set so I could get the build a figure Solomon Grundy:)  These are super great for sitting up in my nerdy little room, but if you're getting 'em for your kids don't expect them to stand up to too much play.  For some reason their joints are made with a cheap rubber, instead of the plastic used on the rest of the figure.  I'm still planning on getting whatever sets come out next... just wanted to give you a heads up.

This scan isn't exactly what the original looks like, but I think it works.  Maybe I should explain... Last week we switched from a PC to a Mac so I've had a bit of a learning curve moving over from a mix of Adobe Photodeluxe and an old version of Photoshop to solely Photoshop CS3.
I'll get the hang of it though.  I have a book and everything:)

Technicolor Thursday: Green Lantern

Here's a shot of Hal Jordan putting that old "if they're too powerful, punch 'em in to space" rule a lot of superheroes follow.

Technicolor Thursday: Devil Slayer

Just felt like going back to the roots of the character I've been working on in my funnybooks for the last few months.
This one actually came out a lot better than I had intended. Bonus!
