As we continue on with the Alphabet sketches I wanted to take a crack at a slightly different approach to the Joker than my usual take. The gap toothed grin is a nod to Mike Hawthorne's interpretation:)

Batman: A Death in the Family

I recently got the galley forArea 10, the Vertigo Crime graphic novel I did with Christos Gage, and was struck by the smell of the paper. Weird, right?

I don't know what paper stock they'll be using for the finished product but the copies I got smelled exactly like the Batman: A Death in the Family trade that I've had in my collection since 1988.

So... yeah. Long story short, I've had that Batman yarn stuck in my head for a week or so now and just had to get this sketch of the Joker, post Robin beat-down, on paper.

Bat-Monday: Commission- Final Inks

Pretty happy with how this one turned out. I just realized I drew it on the back of a Marvel board though. For some reason that just doesn't feel right.

Okay, I've milked the Heroes Con sketches all that I can. These are the last two pieces done at the show. Thanks again to everyone who made it out (a big thanks to those of you who passed along scans) and to all you folks who've been leaving comments. I really appreciate it.

Now it's on to posting somethin' new. Guess I'd better get back to the drawing board.
