So long, Mr. Stevens

Here's a quick Rocketeer sketch done after hearing of Dave Stevens's recent passing.
I only met Mr. Stevens once, back in 2000 I think, and only chatted with him for a few minutes ,but he was really a great guy to talk to. Nice beyond words, especially since I was fumbling through whatever I was trying to say to him, stuttering all the while.
To me he was, and always will be, a Rock Star. Not only was he an amazing artist, but it's thanks to him I that I got into so many of the comics I was reading back in the '90s. Through Stevens's art I got into Doug Wildey, Russ Manning, Alex Raymond. If not for him I don't know where my work'd be today. I've still got a long way to go, but he really helped me take a much needed detour in the stylistic choices I was making at the time. So long, sir. Thanks for everything.

Fitting tribute.
The drapery and stark shadow work on this are just great.
