No amount of watching Karate Kid could help me figure out how to draw this effectively.

actually, i think some of these sketches are very effective in capturing the motion of a leg sweep, especially the ones in the upper right corner and lower left corner. in both, the gesture of the "victim" truly appears to be falling as a result of the action. very cool to see this part of your process!
Love this post. Nice to know you struggle to get the drawing right sometimes. Two minute pencils for a fantastic Supers/Bats makes us think you just throw this stuff down perfectly all the time.
Do a YouTube search for leg sweep and you'll find a lot of examples from judo, BJJ, and more. Some of them are instructional so you should get a good look at what's happening.
If you need something more specific, shoot me an email and let me know. I can talk to my karate sensei tomorrow night.
Thanks a bunch, Andy and Alan. Not every day at the board is a walk in the park, but I'm happy to hear that you guys like seeing this stuff. Mike, thanks but the pencils have actually been finished for a while. I'm pushing through on inks right now. Thanks for the offer though.
