Go Team Venture!

After being thoroughly unimpressed by this past Saturday morning's cartoons I was beginning to worry if I had finally gotten to the age where I'd outgrown cartoons.
I remember as a kid waking up every Saturday at 4:30 in the morning to watch Dick Tracy, and afterward waiting around three hours or so until the networks would start running another block of animated shows.
I used to run a half mile from the bus stop after school every day so I could catch the every last minute of Robotech.
I wanted the all white Converse All-Stars so I could be like Jonny Quest.
I cried when Sven was "injured" and Princess Allura started piloting the Blue Lion on Voltron.
Had cartoons let me down?
And then I put on the first two seasons of Venture Bros. while working over the weekend and all was right with the world again.
Don't get me wrong there are plenty of shows I dig nowadays. Simpsons is still always good for a laugh even after all these years, Futurama has probably had the most repeated viewings of any of the DVDs in our collection, and I'll probably get anything that has Bruce Timm' s name attached to it, but there just don't seem to be as many quality animated shows on TV that I really get excited about anymore. Venture Bros. is one of the exceptions. Granted it's not exactly all ages, but it's exactly the kind of show I want to watch now and the third season can't get here soon enough!

Great image, i really like it. Venture Brothers is a fantastic show.

I know what you mean about cartoons. The wierd thing is watching cartoons you used to love as a kid, but now realise that they were a little creepy.
If you want to catch a couple of modern cartoons that you can really enjoy, yet not be 'adult' i'd try the 'Adventures of Grim and Mandy', and a favourite of mine, 'Fairly Oddparents'

Ugh, sorry for the long post, keep up the great work,

Dec.

I'm of the same opinion as you, Chris. Venture Bros. is a great comedy show. However, let me recommend the entire series of The Roughneck Chronicles. It's the animated series based on Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers. It's quite excellent.

Great job on Hank "Channels Dead Crazy People", Dean, and H.E.L.P.E.R.! Will you please bring this with you to Planet Comicon too?
