In-Samnee-acs: The Spirit

CHOMP!
Before anyone asks, no I did not see the Spirit movie... nor do I plan to. Let's just leave it at that, okay?
I did just recently pick up the first trade of Darwyn Cooke's take on the Spirit and thought it was pretty great though.

With you re. the movie. Cooke's art is very stylish.

But this is the highlight of the week so far. Brilliant: Composition, lighting composition, drama, movement. So right for the character. Cracking piece

Wow, huge Spirit fan here and that piece capture's Eisner's magical use of black and whites perfectly. The character has never looked better!

Yeah, this is a piece worthy of both Eisner's and Cooke's vision for the character. The subtle details steal the show on this one, from the lighting between the boards to the textural elements on the bricks and the alligator's head. Great concept and even better execution!

Nice drawing! I luv the Spirit, and I walked out of the movie... Within minutes it was clear that the movie wasn't Frank Miller doing the Spirit, it was Frank Miller recreating the Spirit in his image. I figured Scarlett and Eva Mendes would make it okay, but I walked out... Sorry, just had to get it off my chest. YourBlack Canary is bang-up!
